If you’re looking to see how actors get into Hollywood, then this is your blog post to read. In this post, I will teach how to become an actor without acting in school. There are many ways one can become an actor with no experience or very little.
I want to become an actor where do I start
So, you want to become an actor but don’t know where to start?
The first phase every actor that wants to become an actor in Hollywood must complete is to test their circumstances.
Are you a trained actor or are you wanting an acting career with no experience?
Do you have acting marketing materials or do you have no idea what I’m talking about?
If you’re starting then read this part right here:
- You NEED to build your acting marketing materials. These materials are needed to pitch you to casting directors, potential representation, and acting jobs.
- You NEED to build a resumé even if the start of that resumé is projects you create with friends or youtube videos you create in your spare time. (Slowly but surely you can replace the credits in your resumé with bigger productions as your career progresses)
- You NEED a variety or at least a couple of headshots as professional as possible both physically and digitally since your face is a huge asset in the business and your calling card for most projects.
- You NEED to live in major marketplaces or at least have plans to at some point move to major production cities such as; Hollywood, California, New York City, New York, Atlanta, Georgia, Toronto, Canada, and others where the film industry is prevalent and abundant.
- You will NEED to consider some acting skill training classes such as acting for the camera, improv, acting technique, voiceover, script reading and analysis, and others. This will increase the job quality soon so you’re considered for better and brighter roles.
- You NEED to do self submitting to casting websites and/or get an acting agent to submit you daily to acting roles in Hollywood or near your city.
- You GET a mentor or marketing for actors coach to keep you sharp on your marketing outbounds, so you’re prepared to be a professional working actor from day 1. Having a mentor is the major shortcut to getting from where you are to where you want to be. Is it easy to become an actor in Hollywood?
The short answer to this question is no. Just like any other career, this one is all dependent on you, especially at the start of your career. Remember, nobody knows who you are, how skilled you are, or even who you are in a new shiny town like Hollywood. It’s up to you to get known and heard in tinsel town.
You can become an actor in Hollywood in this day and age, but you need to get your career started somehow. If all you can do now is get information and take online classes so be it, but as long as you’re moving one step closer toward your dreams and goals is all that matters. Everything and Anything is possible in this life, we need to have the courage to go after our dream goals and careers. I was once a very Dezperate Actor, but I gave myself enough time to figure it out. Even if I had to work odd jobs to make ends meet, I still went after my goals and dreams and I accomplished so much.

So, How hard is it to become an actor?
The answer to this one is very it depends. I know, not the ideal answer you were hoping for, but I have to say it depends on the individual. I don’t know you, so I don’t know if you’re the type of person that gives up too easily or the one that perseveres after every failed attempt. Because even with a mentor you may avoid many mistakes, but it’s inevitable for you to fail one way or another. The advantage of having a mentor/guide throughout your career is being able to make the least amount of mistakes while getting quicker towards your goal.

How do you become a Hollywood actor with no experience?
If you want to know how you become a Hollywood actor with no experience my Dezperate Actor – Cracking the Hollywood Code online course will help you. If you want to know it in written form then the shorter version would be to gather at least the marketing materials because your foot in the door does not rely on acting experience, your foot in the door relies on your looks and skill.
In the looks department, it’s important that for your marketing materials you always present yourself as professional as you can be, because first impressions in this business are everything.
In the skills department, you must have marketing skills because that’s the true path towards more acting jobs, more reliable representation for your career, and lifelong friends and acquaintances that will help your growth even further as you grow your career becoming a Hollywood actor from no experience to rich in experiences. Any other skills you develop are an absolute plus for your career such as learning a new language, musical skills, athletic abilities, or any other positive attributes.
How to be a successful actor in Hollywood
The only path to success for an actor in Hollywood is to surround his/her self to be fully immersed in the industry. Meaning showing up to acting industry events, from more work on set to casting offices, to agent’s agencies, to networking events, red carpets, television sets, industry-related conferences, and many more.
Hollywood can also be a very confusing place and that’s why I recommend having a mentor holding your hand or at least explaining to you the process of breaking into or consistently working as a successful actor in Hollywood.
A successful actor in Hollywood is always learning because learning never ends. The more you polish your skills, the more successful you’re going to be in human nature. The most successful actors I’ve ever met are working on themselves and polishing their skills to be better every day.
How to become an actor in Hollywood
So you wanna know how to become an actor in Hollywood?

You make sure it is as professional looking as possible and up to date as well.
You Live or move to a major city such as Hollywood, California for more acting job opportunities.
You start self-submitting for acting jobs on legitimate casting websites such as; CastingNetworks.com, Actorsaccess.com, and CastingFrontier.com.
You send acting marketing materials to professional representation for your acting career future. I teach this in my Dezperate Actor 2.8 – Representation ON Demand Code Online Program.
You network in your acting jobs on set, industry events, and classes to expand your network of connections and potential future opportunities for brighter acting roles.
You work your way to become a SAG-AFTRA franchised actor to pursue bigger acting roles in the union.
You take more classes that stretch you as an actor and keep the mantra of always learning, keep learning to polish your skills as an actor.
You use your spare time to keep learning about the industry, take classes, develop projects, help other people and develop/grow your skills.
